Membrane Technology

A membrane technology is a separation process that covers a broad range of problems from particles to molecules and a wide variety of membranes are available to design process.

Because of its multidisciplinary character, membrane technology is used in several industries, including water treatment for domestic and industrial water supply, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological, beverages, food, metallurgy, and other separation processes.

Types of Membranes Technology

    Microfiltration (MF):

    The pore size of MF membrane ranged from a few microns to 0.1 μm.

  • 02

    Ultrafiltration (UF):

    UF membrane pore size is between 0.1 μm and 0.01 μm.

  • 03

    Nanofiltration (NF):

    NF membrane ranges from 0.01 μm to 0.001 μm.

  • 04

    Reverse osmosis (RO):

    RO membrane is less than 0.001 μm. RO membranes only allowed water molecules to pass through extremely high pressure drops (10–100 MPa) compared to other membrane technologies mentioned previously.
